About The 4Cs (Diamond Eductation)

DIAMOND CUT (POLISH)

Diamond Cut / polish Cut is one of the most important characteristics of a diamond. The cut/polish directly reflects & impacts the brilliance, fire, and scintillation of that diamond. If the workmanship and cut are poor, the diamond will look dull and lifeless. Most diamonds sold around the world (especially online & mall stores) are commercialized quality, or poorer quality compared to Diamond History Museum quality.

If the diamond is cut too shallow, too deep, or unproportioned, it greatly reduces its overall value. Unfortunately- most the diamonds around the world are represented as good quality diamonds, even though they are far from it. Truth be told, unless you are a diamond expert, it is extremly difficult to distinguish between different diamond qualities/cuts and colors; You truly need to trust the source you are buying from to properly represent their product. At DHM we guarantee all our product grading are honest & truthful and back it up with a 100% money back guarantee.

Color

Color determines how white the diamond is. It’s another big factor that affects prices drastically. The whiter the diamond, the more desirable it becomes. Most commercial diamonds (found online & most retail stores) fall within a lower color range of H-L, even though they might represent themselves as “better color, it’s not necessarily the case”. Just because someone is telling you the diamond is G or H in color (which is the typical lingo/wording being pushed out in the market) does not necessarily mean they are telling the truth! Color grading is extremly open to criticism, and unless you are a reputable company with strong roots, don’t expect that grading to hold up on a real certificate.

At DHM, we only use top-quality color, ranging from F to H Color in diamonds. Our standards of grading & transparency are leading pillars in the jewelry industry and backed with over 40+ years of diamond experience. We guarantee our reports are truthful & accurate or your money back, guaranteed.

Clarity

Clarity is a very important aspect of the diamond. This determines how clean the diamond is. The more inclusions or imperfections the diamond has, the lower it falls in grade. Grades range from “IF” or VVS1 to I3. The higher the grade, the higher the price. Clarity is what helps the natural beauty of that diamond shine, the better the cut, the better the diamond, the higher the price.

Typical commercial quality diamonds fall within the I1-I3 range (poor). These are the diamonds found in most retail & online stores, even though they are not represented as that. The majority of diamonds around the world are being represented as “Si” quality, which is necessarily all true, Just because someone is telling you the diamond is “Si” does not necessarily mean they are telling the truth, most the time, they are just reading whatever is printed on the tag. A salesman is a salesman, and that will never change 😊

Carat Weight.

Carat weight represents the weight of the diamond. Typically, heavier the diamond weight, the more expensive it is, but you must consider all the other factors as well (Cut/Color/Clarity) which significantly impacts its cost.

It’s always a good idea to stick to an equilibrium based on all four characteristics to make the correct chase. Without balance there is chaos, Bigger is not always better.

Same principle applies to mounted/finished jewelry. The more diamonds a piece has, the higher the total Carat weight will be. The Higher the Carat weight, the higher the price; unfortunately, carat weight is not always portrayed truthfully. Just because a piece of jewelry is tagged or represented as 1ct, does not necessarily mean its truthfully a 1 carat (unless graded un-mounted & from a reputable source like GIA). When diamonds are already mounted inside jewelry, it is extremly difficult to estimate the exact weight of that diamond, therefore most stores give you an estimated educated guess! An educated guess that will NOT typically hold up with a reputable certificate, because they are not the ones who set the diamonds, they are the ones who only sell it. At DHM we don’t believe in middlemen. We believe in direct Manufacturer to retail experience.

At DHM we operate and manage our own private Diamond & Precious color stone cutting factories worldwide.
